“We are honored to support SooVAC as it supports the development and appreciation of hundreds of emerging artists.”

Allison Wagstrom, Portfolio Manager, Nonprofits Assistance Fund

Soo Visual Art Center’s mission is to exhibit the work of exceptional artists and to create opportunities to foster the understanding and creation of art. In this role, SooVAC serves as a steppingstone toward artistic growth and institutional recognition in the careers of emerging and under-represented artists. Each year SooVAC exhibits works by 200+ artists – the majority from Minnesota – by providing exhibition opportunities, educational experiences, and artistic support to foster career development for local artists.

Recently SooVAC moved into a new space off Lyndale and Lake in Minneapolis, replacing two locations it had been operating in order to have sufficient space for its programming and exhibitions.  The new location doubled its gallery space, gave it a location in a high-foot-traffic area, and allowed it to consolidate its operations, and thus its staff, into one location. In addition to gallery space, the new location has a meeting/training room and administrative space.

NAF is proud to support SooVAC with bridge loans to fund improvements in its new location while it was conducting its capital campaign, and to provide cash flow support until grants are received to fund its operations.
