"Open Arms provides meals to people living with HIV/AIDS, MS, ALS, breast cancer and more than 60 other diseases. Of the 8,000 to 10,000 meals they deliver each week, 2,000 of those meals are to people who might otherwise not get a meal that day because of economics or mobility."

Phil Hatlie, Senior Loan Officer, Nonprofits Assistance Fund

Open Arms is the only nonprofit organization in Minnesota that cooks and delivers free meals specifically tailored to meet the nutrition needs of individuals living with cancer, HIV/AIDS, MS, and ALS. Started as a single act of kindness with a home-cooked meal, Open Arms now cooks and deliver 460,000 meals annually to more than 800 people each week with the help of 2,200 volunteers. This growth has been accelerated since 2012 when Open Arms built a new 21,000-square-foot building with a state-of-the-art kitchen. A recent loan from NAF refinanced a portion of the funds used for the building with terms that better fit the organization’s budget and cash flow. Earlier this year Open Arms hit an enormous milestone by delivering their 4 millionth meal!
